A clean space can mean a stress-free mind. Organization isn’t easy and there are a thousand different methods a person could do to personalize and become an organizing pro. It’s daunting just thinking about what you want to organize and how you want to do it. I usually start asking myself questions like
Where do I want to start?
What do I need to buy? Or do I need to buy something?
What theme do I want to do?
How do I want it to look?
How do I become “that girl” with all the aesthetics and pleasing videos?
It can be so overwhelming.
I believe there is more than one way to overcome this struggle. Organization is a very broad topic, therefore it is also a broad task. I have always been a big picture type of person. I don’t just see one room. I think of the whole apartment, or the whole house.
What I do is pretty simple and works for me. I essentially make the first priority of my organization routine, to write a list. I’ve pretty much set this routine for anything I do. It’s how my mind has always work because I feel under pressure and overwhelmed all throughout the day.
Writing a list is so simple it doesn’t seem like something so small would actually work, but anyone will an anxious mind would benefit from it. The list can be however long you want it too. I normally end up with about 10 different tasks, but not everyone is the same and you can make it smaller to fight a more overwhelmed mind or a couple of more tasks to fit a more productive day.
Organize your life: Start with a List
- Step 1. Write a list of Tasks to Complete
- Step 2. Focus on just one task at a time
- Step 3. Do the tasks in a group per room
- Step 4. Mark the tasks of as you go and take (accounted for) breaks so you don’t feel stressed.
My list is easy and pretty to the point when it comes to getting tasks done. No my apartment doesn’t always stay clean. The state of my apartment is almost a reflection of my mental state so it’s okay to have days where nothing gets done. I’m still working on that concept, but I’m getting to a point where it’s easier to understand.
When you start listing out your tasks, just try and center yourself with a mindset that it’s okay not to finish everything, but that you do want to get some stuff done. Use your list to make yourself feel productive. I usually take those minutes writing my list to set a candle and put some background music on. I know music doesn’t work for everyone to stay focused, but this isn’t a chore.
Doing these tasks are suppose to give a release from the stress. It’s a healthy habit to start partaking in. Feel stress release as you tick off each box to your list. Put on music that is going to make feel like dancing and the happiest. I promise it will help. When you finish writing your list, look over it and group a couple of those tasks together for the ones that make sense.
For example, if laundry is a task, then focus a couple of tasks on all clothes related. Put in load of laundry, then go through some of the clothes that you’ve been putting off to donate. Put those clothes on you “chair” away and make it a clean space.
There is always more to than meets the eye. Some people don’t think to much on it and others only think about it. I lover to organize, but there are so many days that I just want to lay on the couch and sleep. It’s something that can be turned completely around and make a world of a difference. Listing helps me and I think as I continue to write, I can get even better and help you guys. Look forward to me future posts to come.
